Meet the Trainer

Pieter Verhallen (see the CV) Marketing professor (NC State), researcher (Netspar), and entrepreneur with expertise in consumer behavior, behavioral economics, and startups. Former affiliations include Duke, Maastricht, and IAE-Aix. Combines academic rigor with real-world experience, having founded and scaled multiple global ventures. Passionate about coaching case competition teams to global success.
Program Structure
Day 1 – Introduction to Case-Based Teaching
Participants will explore:
- What business cases are, and why they matter
- How case teaching enhances learning outcomes
- The roles of students and professors in case-based learning
- Core techniques for facilitating discussions and guiding students through a case
At the end of Day 1, each participant will receive a simple business case to work on in teams.
Day 2 – Case Solving in Teams
Participants will work in teams of 3–4 to:
- Analyze the assigned case
- Identify key challenges and opportunities
- Develop a structured and actionable solution
- Prepare a concise case presentation
This "learning-by-doing" experience helps educators step into the role of students to understand the case-solving process better.
Day 3 – Case Presentations & Feedback
Teams will present their solutions in a classroom-style setting. A structured feedback session will follow each presentation, providing:
- An opportunity to reflect on what makes a strong solution
- Examples of constructive, growth-oriented feedback
- Discussion on how to replicate this model in real teaching environments
Pre-Training Prep & Post-Training Access

📌 Before the Training
All registered participants will receive a video primer introducing the fundamentals of case-based teaching, which must be watched in advance to ensure a shared foundation on Day 1.

🎓 After the Training
Upon completion, participants will receive an official Certificate of Completion and gain access to a curated set of teaching materials and case examples to support future implementation in their own courses.
